The British player reached the third round in three of the four major tournaments in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments in 2025 because of a medical condition she has been battling over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting next year's training.

These plans will involve coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the third set in the match with Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally after a long gap in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 victories this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled late this year.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
